The Special Events Manager Role

A Special Events Manager sells and coordinates a restaurant's private dining and events: corporate dinners, celebrations, holiday parties and buyouts. The job is part sales, part planning and part execution, and it adds a meaningful revenue line to a high volume restaurant.

Day to day, the Special Events Manager answers inquiries, tours clients, writes proposals and contracts, manages the calendar and builds the event orders the kitchen and floor work from. On event day the Manager is on site, making sure what was sold is what the guests get, and following up afterward to book the next one.

The role reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Executive Chef and floor managers. The best Special Events Managers build a book of repeat corporate clients and planners and become the reason a restaurant's private dining rooms are full.

Candidates come from event sales, private dining, catering sales or banquet coordination roles in restaurants, hotels and venues.
