The Vice President of Human Resources Role
A Vice President of Human Resources leads the people side of a multi unit restaurant company: culture, recruiting, training, compensation, compliance and the management bench. In hospitality, where turnover and growth both run high, the role is central to whether the company can open units and keep standards.
Day to day, the VP builds and runs recruiting and onboarding, management development and training, compensation and benefits, employee relations and compliance, and the HR systems that let a growing portfolio operate consistently. The VP partners daily with operations leaders on staffing, retention and promotions.
The best candidates are builders: people who have created HR infrastructure in a growing company rather than inherited it, and who are comfortable in restaurants as well as the boardroom. The role usually sits on the senior leadership team and reports to the CEO or President.
Candidates come from VP of HR, Chief People Officer or Director of HR roles in multi unit restaurants, hotels and other hourly workforce businesses.
